So I'm sitting in the Cleveland airport, awaiting the shuttle that's coming to take me back to my 'real' life. I finished
Beloved, but surprise, surprise, I had no idea what to write about. I decided
Beloved was going to be my last book, simply because I found myself dragging myself through it and not really enjoying it, all the while panicking because I was running out of time. So no, I did not read nine novels this winter term. And I'm okay with that. Next question.
So after a week and a half of deliberating, I decided to focus on the women. I think it's remarkable that Toni Morrison can go from so perfectly defining the struggle of the black man to the misunderstood love of black women.
